Touring routes to explore the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast

Drive the wide open spaces and friendly communities of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast region.

The main route through the region, past many of the area's historic gold rush communities, is Highway 97 between Clinton and Quesnel. If your destination is Barkerville, you'll want to follow Highway 26 east from Quesnel. Highway 20, known locally as the Freedom Highway, is your route through the Chilcotin Plateau and on to the Central Coast. Anglers will want to drive "The Fishing Highway" (Highway 24) to access the many lakes along the way.

Car rentals

Car rental companies are conveniently located in major communities and at the area's two regional airports.

Bus travel

Bus service is available throughout the region. Highway 97 is the area's main corridor, running south to north past a number of smaller, historic communities dating back to the gold rush days.

Greyhound Canada

Scheduled bus service to most Cariboo Chilcotin Coast communities. In communities where Greyhound doesn't provide service, there is often a shuttle/connector service transporting passengers to the nearest Greyhound stop.
