Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin, Williams Lake

See living history at the Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin, the only ranching and rodeo museum in BC. Journey back to the "green gold" of the grasslands that persuaded gold seekers to stay and ranch the fertile countryside. The museum houses the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame with its cowboys, artists, poets and musicians and tells the story of Williams Lake's place in history. First Nations people and ranching pioneers come to life in the cowboy and rodeo heritage of BC's frontier.

Lillooet Museum
The Museum & Visitor Centre is situated in downtown Lillooet in the former Anglican Church, St. Mary the Virgin. The original St. Mary's, which was torn down in 1960, stood on the same spot and arrived on the backs of miners and their mules, who carried the timber, piece by piece over the rugged Harrison-Lillooet trail in 1860. The original chancel was incorporated in the new St. Mary's and the melodeon and bell from the old church are displayed in the Museum.

The Museum also features First Nations artifacts - some thousands of years old. As well the display includes Gold Rush era relics and a re-creation of Ma Murray's News Office. As you enter the Museum look to your left and see the largest, mounted Rocky Mountain Elk head ever registered in BC.
