Fly-FishingThe Cariboo Chilcotin Coast is fly-fishing heaven. Experience Highway 24 “The Fishing Highway” and the fish laden lakes of Sheridan Lake (trophy trout), Bridge Lake (kokanee, rainbow trout, tent and RV camping), picturesque Lac des Roches which is famous for fly-fishing and Horse Lake (excellent kokanee fishing). Touring time: 1-5 days, depending on the amount of fishing one desires! Sweeping west from the Fraser River to the Coast Mountains the Chilcotin is as diverse as any imaginable. Trout-filled lakes, rivers, and streams are everywhere. Lodges and resorts offer old-west hospitality, from rustic outpost camps to luxury wilderness resorts. Hike-in, fly-in, and pack trips on horseback are available for the adventurous. The Chilcotin Plateau is dotted with an incredible number of small lakes where the fishing for rainbow trout can be fast and furious. Many lakes produce large trout, and the prospect of doing battle with a ten pound fish is real. Large lakes in the Chilcotin are home to deep waters where rainbow trout are the foremost attraction and trophy-sized bull trout are caught every year. Several of the rivers slicing through the Chilcotin are renowned in angling circles for exceptional trout fishing. Highlights include the Chilko, Chilcotin, Upper Dean and Blackwater Rivers.
