Business Essentials Workshop

Miriam and Kim are gathering information, and we would like to know if anyone is interested in these Tourism BC Workshops. We are hoping to hold the workshops in each of the sub-regions however; locations will be dependent on interest. Email either Miriam or Kim.

TBC/ UK FAM

At the end of September, one Tourism BC Representative and 11 Tour Operators/ Receptive Tour Operators came to visit our region. Kim Pratt met with them in the South Cariboo and escorted them to a few properties. Our region made a remarkable impression on the group, I'm sure our region will be promoted enthusiastically, and with fond memories.

 

Chinese FAM

In July we had CYTS (the second largest tour operator in China) visit our region. They did a circle tour, having taken the ferry from Vancouver to Prince Rupert and driving down from there. Stops were made in the North Cariboo, Central Cariboo, the Chilcotin and the Coast before catching the ferry back to Vancouver. A nice photo opportunity happened in Tweedsmuir Park when black bear decided to sit in the middle of a berry patch and have his lunch. It was perfect!

9 Day Adventure Trip

In the summer of 2007 the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association in partnership with some very generous stakeholders co-sponsored the "9-Day Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Adventure" - a successful marketing campaign that ran in Canadian Geographic and Explore Magazines. The fantastic contest "call to action" drove entrants to the region's destination website, landwithoutlimits.com, generating a tremendous amount of interest in the region.

This last September the Adventure Trip Grand Prize winners, Anna Baranyai and her daughter Jesika, flew out from Toronto to embark on their "9 day adventure trip of a lifetime". Their fully sponsored guided itinerary consisted of a diverse variety of tours and activities. Some highlights were:

"Time for Adventure"

Over 6300 people entered our multi media "Time for Adventure" spring marketing campaign. The lucky winner of $1500 in Gold is James Kilvert of Vancouver. James is planning on putting some of the money towards 2010 Winter Olympic Games tickets and he is planning a visit to the region in 2009. Congratulations James! Hello BC Website

We are excited to announce that Rosemary Smart has been chosen by Tourism British Columbia on behalf of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association to writing the new content on the Hello BC website for the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast region.

Bella Coola Valley has been chosen as a pilot community to cover for the content revitalization of www.HelloBC.com, the official tourism website of the Province of British Columbia.
